January 10, 2024 • Golden, Colorado

Ascent Classical™ Academies (ACA) announces the hiring of Ronnie Spellman as its first Chief People Officer (CPO). This comes ahead of expansion operations in South Carolina, where ACA will open two new campuses in Fall 2024 with approval to open more in the next few years.

Ronnie Spellman brings more than two decades of executive leadership experience to ACA, ranging from established Fortune 500 companies to private equity-owned businesses and start-up operations. His unique and robust career has included building supply chain, real estate, marketing, human resources, information technology, and external relations programs for organizations.

Outside of his regular work responsibilities, Mr. Spellman has participated in a variety of community organizations including most recently serving as the chairman of the board for Interlink, a Texas-based regional nonprofit alliance bridging the gap between business, education, and government to develop a quality workforce with a globally competitive advantage. Additionally, he was a member of the advisory board for several universities and chambers of commerce, as well as serving as chairman of the board for a March of Dimes division, and as a Rotary Club member.

Early in his career, Spellman worked as an engineering scholar at Canon, as a scholar in the Office of Congressional Affairs at NASA, and as an intern for the United States Senate. He is a Virginia native and graduate of Virginia Tech University, where he remains involved.

Today, Spellman continues to serve on the Board of Directors for the consulting firm Catalyzer, a leadership and organizational development company led by West Point graduates and former military leaders who have successfully transitioned their skill sets into said business. He also is passionate about supporting programs that help military service members and first responders and still finds time to volunteer, working with organizations that provide career guidance and workforce opportunities to students.

“We are excited to have Ronnie Spellman join our team as we remain committed to providing access to a content-rich curriculum in the liberal arts to children across the nation. Mr. Spellman’s understanding of the importance and passion for providing families with access to quality education makes him integral in achieving our goal” said Derec Shuler, ACA Executive Director and Founder. “Additionally, his business acumen will help Ascent Classical™ build a top-tier and highly effective human resource program.”
